The pandemic of COVID-19 that has widely disrupted our world has raised many questions about how the design of the built environment can evolve to improve the health and safety of occupants. This presentation describes the role of light in helping to minimize the spread of pathogens indoors based on decades of study focused on healthcare settings and food safety. The course educates the audience on the various types of pathogens and how they can be controlled via visible and UV light, and provides guidance on the application of light in many different indoor conditions.
